Our Projects
Over the years since its creation DECLIC has been actively helping the communities in the Casamance region of Senegal through the following projects.

Feed the Future: Yiriwaa
“Feed the Future Yiriwaa": Project to strengthen the Community Involvement of 10,000 young people in Casamance. The aim is to increase the community involvement of young people in Casamance by scaling up 4H clubs, strengthening their leadership and improving the favorable ecosystem for positive youth development.

Projet Jeunesse Citoyennete: Yakaar
The “Yaakar Jeunesse Citoyenneté” project The aim of the project is to strengthen the commitment and participation of young Senegalese in public and community life. Strengthen the capacities of youth organizations in terms of structuring, programming, empowerment and advocacy;
“Give youth organisations the means to animate territories in order to foster the participation and expression of young people at local and national levels; stimulate and support the civic engagement of young Senegalese men and women, to give them the opportunity to be actors of change.”

Fankanta (phase 2)
Fankanta project phase 2. The overall objective is to strengthen the commitment of adolescents, young people and women to improving the provision of essential services in the regions of Ziguinchor, Sédhiou, Kolda and Tambacounda.

Fankanta
Fankanta project in the Ziguinchor, Sédhiou and Kolda regions. The overall aim of the project is to strengthen community involvement in social protection and cohesion.

In'Pact Youth
Inpact'Jeunes Project to strengthen young people's access to and inclusion in decision-making forums that drive territorial development, in order to consolidate social cohesion and enhance their well-being in the communes of Oussouye and Adéane.

Territorial Action System
The SAT” (Territorial Action System) project aims to improve the effectiveness of the local authority through an integrated information and action system. A 360-degree baseline of the Adéane local authority will be drawn up, a community information office will be set up and the leadership of the Adéane commune will be developed through capacity building, mentoring and effective coaching of key community players.

"IDEE"
Entrepreneurial support project for young people in the Ziguinchor region, called Réussir son IDÉE (Initiatives pour le Développement des Dynamiques Économiques et Entrepreneuriales). The aim of this project is to offer 33 young and migrant MPME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) returnees the opportunity to benefit from support measures to create decent jobs and sustainable incomes, by strengthening their managerial and entrepreneurial skills.

Academy for Women Entrepreneurs
Projet de renforcement du Leadership des Conseil Municipaux des Enfants (CME) phase 1: Department of Ziguinchor and Sédhiou. The aim is to promote children's participation by building their capacities and taking into account their opinions on issues relating to city management.

Childrens' Municipal Comittee

"REVE" - Dream
« REVE » Recherche en faveur des Villages En retour pour identifier les atouts, défis et besoins réels des 14 villages en retour dans l’arrondissement de Niaguis.

EMANK
“Emank” Project to strengthen community organizations operating around the 4 marine protected areas in the Ziguinchor region. Strengthening in Organizational Development, Leadership, Partnership Development...

YOUGO
“YOUGO” cultural exchange programs, in collaboration with Inter Alia, is implementing a cultural exchange project that promotes learning through art and culture. The project brings together 6 countries: Senegal, Nigeria, Togo, Greece, Bulgaria and Poland, all of which host 15-day bootcamp activities. Each organization sends young people on an apprenticeship stay, with a program for each country.

Laabanta CORONA
Implementation of a Community Engagement project as part of the Covid 19 response in the Ziguinchor “Laabanta Corona” region. 312 inter-community outreach volunteers trained in leadership, organizational development and social change management. These volunteers made more than 6,500 home visits and mobilized more than 100,000 people in community activities. Installation of a community information office to collect and make available reliable data to improve community action.

Civic Engagement Project
Implementation of a "Citizen Engagement" pilot in the regions of Ziguinchor, Sédhiou and Kolda. Organizational diagnosis and capacity-building for producer organizations in Casamance.

Connected Challenges
“Connected Challenges” project to strengthen 5 organizations in Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, and Togo. These organizations bring together more than 150 leaders who receive support in organizational and project development.

Waa
Through its “Waa?" project, DECLIC conducted research with 266 young people in the region to understand the individual and community challenges they face. It emerged that 25% of the challenges were linked to a lack of infrastructure and appropriate frameworks, 30% to poor behavior on the part of young people themselves, and 45% to a lack of opportunities. The project has trained 90 young people from Ziguinchor and helped them set up their own agricultural and community organizations.
